DC-DC converters play an essential role in modern power systems due to the ubiquitous requirement of DC sources and consumers. This technology offers low cost, compact size, high efficiency, wide input/output voltage range and fast response characteristics. In this paper, we will discuss the application field and working principle of R1D10-3.309/P-R converters.

R1D10-3.309/P-R DC-DC power converters are designed for high-end applications in fields such as military, aerospace and other demanding industries. The working principle of R1D10-3.309/P-R is to create an isolated output voltage from an input voltage, which has already been rectified. The dc-dc converter consists of two components: a transformer and a switching regulator. The transformer provides the necessary isolation between the input and the output. The switching regulator is used to regulate the output voltage. The switching regulator controls the transformer’s magnetic core, by turning the magnetic core on and off, thus creating an output voltage waveform.

The basic circuit diagram of R1D10-3.309/P-R is shown in Figure 1. The input is connected to the primary winding of the transformer T1. The output is connected to the secondary winding of the transformer T1. The switching regulator consists of an opto-coupler IC1 and MOSFETs Q1 and Q2. The opto-coupler is used for feedback control. The voltage across the feedback terminals FB will control the switching action of the MOSFETs. The MOSFETs will be turned on when the feedback voltage reaches the predefined threshold voltage. The output voltage of the converter will be determined by the ratio of the number of turns of the primary winding to the number of turns on the secondary winding of the transformer.
