The feedback loop consists of a reference voltage source (Vref), a voltage amplifier and an error amplifier.

When the switch is closed, current flows through the inductor and the output limit is determined by the series resistor Rp. In this process, energy is being stored in the magnetic field of the inductor. When the switch opens again, the current flowing through the inductor is diverted to the output and allows the capacitor to be charged. This is the main stage of the conversion.

At the same time, the feedback circuit keep monitoring the output voltage to achieve the desired voltage output by controlling the duty cycle of the switch. If the output voltage drops below the programmed value, then the duty cycle of the switch will be increased to maintain the output voltage.

The switch itself is constructed from several components as follows: main switch M1 which is an N-Channel MOSFET device, Schottky Diode D2 and protection MOSFET M2 for load short-circuit protection. The REM3-0515S/C also implements an over-temperature protection to ensure that the electronic components are not damaged through high temperatures.
