A full-wave rectifier diode is composed of four individual diodes: two anodes and two cathodes. When the input voltage is applied, each anode and cathode are connected independently to each half of the alternating current wave. During the positive half of the wave, the anode is connected to the positive side of the AC voltage and the cathode is connected to the negative side. This allows current to flow through the diode. Similarly, during the negative half of the wave, the anode is connected to the negative side of the AC voltage and the cathode is connected to the positive side. This also allows current to flow through the diode. This process results in a continuous unidirectional current flow, which is the DC current that is used in the power supply system.
