The RL20S161JBSL is a series of through-hole resistor which is widely used in various applications. It is a low profile, low inductance, low ESR, high power resistor which provides excellent performance in high frequency applications and outstanding mechanical strength. It is used to provide current flow control in RF circuits, power supply output regulation and voltage attenuation, as well as to ground circuits or serve as a termination resistor. It is a suitable replacement for larger, conventional through-hole resistors when board space is limited.

The RL20S161JBSL is a high-power resistor and can handle up to 5 Watts of power in air. The device is encapsulated in gas-filled porcelain for optimum thermal dissipation and has two legs for soldering onto any circuit board. The 2.3mm width and 9.5mm length of the RL20S161JBSL allows for air ventilation which allows for maximum heat dissipation and prevents the resistor from damaging due to the resulting heat.

The RL20S161JBSL uses metal alloy strips as a resistive element, which offers high reliability with very-low temperature coefficient and low noise operations. The resistor is further trimmed to its precise value by laser-triming in order to provide excellent accuracy and stability over a wide range of temperatures. It is most commonly available in resistor values from 0.5Ω to 1MΩ.
