PTC Resettable Fuses are widely used in many types of applications. The RL6015-100-120-240-PTO is a resettable fuse designed for in-line protection of AC electrical circuits. The RL6015-100-120-240-PTO resettable fuse utilizes a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) material which allows for both low-level current protection and resettability. In normal operation, this PTC fuse acts as a low level current limiter and limits the current flow to a pre-defined maximum value. This current limit setting is based on the materials used and the design of the resin filled PTC material. If the current level exceeds the pre-defined level, the PTC material begins to heat up and the current is gradually restricted. As the current continues to rise, the PTC material eventually reaches a thermally stable state known as Thermal Runaway, at which point the across the device reaches the maximum predetermined value. The RL6015-100-120-240-PTO then opens and the current flow shuts off.

To reset the fuse, it is necessary to allow the PTC material to cool down. The degree of cooling and the time required to do so will depend on the current flow through the device. Once the PTC material is cooled, the fuse will reset and the electrical circuit will reset. The RL6015-100-120-240-PTO is capable of resetting through this process up to five times before it will need to be replaced.

The RL6015-100-120-240-PTO can be used for a variety of applications, including residential and commercial AC lines and electrical equipment such as air conditioners and hot tubs. This fuse is UL recognized, CSA listed, and CE approved. It is designed and manufactured in accordance with IEC60730-1:2000 and EN60730-2-1:2014.
