The ROV14-330K is a TVS (transient voltage suppression) device designed to protect circuits against sudden surges or spikes of voltage, commonly referred to as “electrical transients”. It belongs to the category of voltage surge suppressors called Varistors, MOVs (metal oxide varistors).

Varistors, also known as variable resistors, are two-terminal, nonlinear semiconductor devices primarily used as a component of transient voltage surge suppression circuits. This type of varistor is composed of two terminals containing zinc oxide, a material with a special power-law electrical resistivity. The resistance of the varistor depends on the applied voltage between its terminals; the higher the voltage the lower the resistance.
