The devicehas an internal programmable soft start which minimizes inrush currentfrom the start-up.The pulse frequency modulation (P FM is) used in the RP10-4812SE to control the current. PFM is a type of pulse width modulation where the switching frequency is changed based on the output current. When the output current increases, the switching frequency decreases, thus reducing the ripple in the output voltage.The module also includes an RF burst mode feature which helps to reduce quiescent current and to prevent continuous conduction mode (CCM) operation confusion at light loads.
