In boost mode, the input voltage is lower than the output voltage, and the converter adjusts the voltage to increase the input voltage. In buck-boost mode, the output voltage is between the input voltage and the input voltage requires both buck and boost operation.

The RP120Q-4805SRW/N-HC utilizes a full bridge rectifier circuit to convert AC input to DC voltage and then use a tapped inductor to transfer energy between the input and output while transforming the voltage. The switching frequency of the converter is adjustable, the max frequency will be up to 5MHz, allowing for a very fast continuous adaptive transition from buck to boost or buck-boost when different load conditions occur. The converter uses multiple active loop control system: cycle by cycle current limiting, output voltage negative feedback control, peak current control, thermal protection control, system start-up control, etc. All work together to provide accurate and stability of output voltage.
