Working Principle

The RT2862AGSP utilizes synchronous rectification for high efficiency. When the driver switches on the power devices, the capacitor C5 starts charging. This creates a voltage potential difference to activate all phase switches. When the current limit is reached, the voltage drops, and the current declares an abnormal status. In addition, C1 stores energy during the high-side driver\'s on-time and helps reduce output voltage ripple.

The RT2862AGSP also integrates an adjustable softstart feature. When the converter is enabled, the softstart capacitors start charging and ramping up the output voltage. Once the voltage reaches the desired value, the output voltage starts to rise at a constant rate. This feature eliminates the output voltage inrush current and eliminates the need for an additional softstart circuit.
