Introduction

RT9011-GSGQWC is an off-line current mode Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controller specifically designed for low power adjustable switching power supplies. It is able to generate AC line-powered and battery-powered switch-mode power supplies. With its built-in over current protection (OCP) and under voltage protection (UVP) features, RT9011-GSGQWC can essentially eliminate external OCP and UVP components, thus improving system reliability.

Applications

The RT9011-GSGQWC is designed for use in AC-DC and DC-DC switching power supplies. Working Principle

The RT9011-GSGQWC is a current mode controller. In its normal operation, it measures the inductor current of the switching power circuit and adjusts the PWM duty cycle according to the measured current.The RT9011-GSGQWC drives an external Gate driver circuit to control the switching power circuit in order to adapt the output power to the load. The device senses the load current via an external sense resistor. It then converts the sense voltage to a pulsed current that is proportional to the load current. This current is compared to an internal PWM ramp voltage, which is generated by a constant frequency oscillator.The result of this comparison is fed back to the driver circuit, which controls the circuit on/off parameters and thus adjusts the output voltage of the circuit. When the output voltage is equal to the reference voltage, the current mode controller shuts off the switching circuit, preventing further increase in the load current and thus delivering the required output voltage.
