Working Principle

The RT9089AGQW is a high efficiency, step up/down switching regulator. It uses a synchronous rectifier and a low voltage drop, low ON resistance P-channel MOSFET as the main switching element. The regulator adjusts the output voltage level by controlling the Duty Cycle of the switch. When the output voltage drops, the Duty Cycle of the switch increases, consequently driving the output voltage up.The device provides over-current protection and reverse current protection. The Over-current protection is set to 200μA and is disabled in shutdown mode. The Reverse Current Protection is set to 400μA.The thermal shutdown protection is enabled when the die temperature rises above 160°C. The device will enter a shutdown mode while the device is still in the thermal shutdown state until the die temperature has dropped below 145°C.
