Working Principle

The RT9166-28GX is an adjustable linear voltage regulator with a highly efficient internal control loop. The control loop is designed to convert input voltage to output voltage by varying the internal p-channel MOSFET within the regulator. In order to regulate output voltage, the device takes in the difference between the input voltage and the output voltage and adjusts the p-channel MOSFET’s gate to maintain a fixed output voltage.
