Working Principle

The RT9715EGBR is a dynamic power distribution switch integrated with a load driver. It can supports up to eight individual load channels, and each channel can deliver up to 100mA. The device accepts an input supply voltage of 2.7V to 6.0V and provides regulated outputs of up to 5.5V. It is designed to convert and regulate input power to the load. The load is connected to the output pin of the device and the input supply if provided from the input pin of the device.

The dynamic power diffusion switch (DPS) is integrated in the device, which offers low resistance for the current path. The DPS is also used for the current limit protection. This is achieved by limiting the current when the resistance of the DPS exceeds a certain level. The RT9715EGBR also features over current protection, thermal protection, soft-start and integrated voltage monitoring. The over current protection senses the current through the DPS and shuts down the device when the current exceeds the limit.

The thermal protection limits the temperature of the device by shutting down the load driver when the temperature of the device exceeds a certain threshold. The soft-start goes into effect when the device is enabled, and it limits the inrush current and voltage spike during start-up. Finally, the integrated voltage monitoring feature helps to keep the outputs of the device within a certain allowable range.
