The RT9715GGF is a Power Distribution Switches and Load Drivers integrated in a single, very small package. This device suitably provides power distribution and control between the power source and load while increasing the load current according to load condition and implemented phase current limit. It has the ability to drive power-hungry applications up to 15A without compromising the accuracy of control voltage over a wide range of output current. It offers maximum current, accuracy, power and flexibility.

Working Principle

The RT9715GGF has an over current protection mechanism consisting of a power MOSFET switch, a set of valves, a current-sense amplifier, a current limiter. The power MOSFET switch is the main element for power distribution, the set of valves limits the generated voltage values and it is monitored by the current-sense amplifier. The current limiter consists of an operational amplifier, a reference voltage, an over current detection circuit and a protection circuit. Once the voltage generated by the RT9715GGF crosses a certain threshold, the threshold voltages are compared to the set point of the current limit. If the set point is exceeded, the protection circuit triggers and the power MOSFET is switched off.

In addition, the use of internal voltage regulators allows the RT9715GGF to provide fixed voltage to the load regardless of the output current. This is an important consideration in order to ensure safe operation of the device. Furthermore, the use of a dynamic current control loop ensures the voltage output is accurately maintained despite the changing load conditions.
