The RT9733GS is a three-channel buck advertising card, part of the Point of Load (POL) step down power distribution switch family developed by Richtek Technology Corporation. This innovative solution for low-Voltage Point of Load applications provides end product developers with power budget saving options beyond conventional, single-channel designs. The RT9733GS operates from an input voltage of 2.2V to 5.5V and delivers load currents of up to 500mA with a high-side load switch drive current capability of up to 1.5A.

The RT9733GS is a versatile device with boosted 2.2VDD (VOH, low output voltage) option from all three channels. High efficiency and low power consumption is achieved via a synchronous rectification, and a constant on-time control scheme. An integrated 1.5A high-side driver is capable of driving larger loads, including LEDs and FETs, and switching times of 110ns Rise/Fall times (most commonly 80ns) are guaranteed by the internal high-side slew rate control.

The RT9733GS is ideal for a wide range of Point of Load applications requiring multiple channels of low-voltage burden step down power distribution in a single solution. In addition to its high output current, this advanced power switch also features a fast transient response and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The RT9733GS is an integrated power device optimized for Point of Load switching of multiple low-voltage loads in a variety of applications. From mobile phones, tablets and wearables, to laptops, computers and many other applications, this POL switch provides an ideal source of power for low power, low voltage and single-channel applications requiring 3 channels of low-voltage switching.

This switch also has an integrated 0.5A/1A internal MOSFET, making it suitable for direct powering of small loads, including LEDs and FETs, in automotive, industrial and consumer markets. It is ideal for applications in products such as media tablets, cameras and LCD displays, and can be applied to a variety of power management systems such as CPU, GPU, SoC, and other low-voltage point-of-load application requirements.

Working Principle of RT9733GS

The RT9730GS employs a synchronous rectification structure and constant on-time control structure. In this structure, the high-side switch turns on and off with a control voltage applied to the +VREG pin, and the low-side switch is turned on and off by the level of a signal applied to the ENABLE pin. Because both switches turn on simultaneously, power is supplied to the load from both the high-side and low-side switches, thus providing a high load current.

With the constant on-time control, the device automatically adapts to line and load changes. The integrated high-side driver can be driven up to 1.5A peak and sink up to 500mA of current. The internal high-side driver also contains protective features including current limiting, short circuit protection and over temperature protection.

The switch also features a Wide Operating Voltage Range of 2.2~5.5V and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C with guaranteed 110ns Rise/Fall times, 110ns Delay Times, and a fast transient response.
