A reverse-blocking thyristor (RU 4M) is a four-layer diode-like thyristor constructed with two PN-junction which works in reverse blocking mode. The RUs 4M is mainly used in electronic circuits for a range of applications, such as rectification, voltage regulation, and motor control. An RU 4M consists of two PN junction pair connected in opposite direction. It is specially designed to block any current flow from the anode to the cathode. This feature gives it the name reverse-blocking thyristor.
