Working Principle
The S-1000C27-I4T1G is a three-terminal voltage regulator with built-in overvoltage and undervoltage detection, reset, enable and OVloop signals. An internal Bandgap reference circuit provides a highly accurate reference voltage (VREF) to detect overvoltage and undervoltage conditions in the system. This reference voltage is adjustable and can be set using external resistors.
The PMIC contains a Power On Reset (POR) circuit to detect if the system has been power cycled and a Thermal Shutdown circuit to detect the temperature of the system. If either the POR or Thermal Shutdown circuits detect an error, the PMIC will signal an En signal to the system, to alert it to the condition and reset the system if required. The OVloop signal allows active monitoring and protection against overvoltage condition of the system.
The S-1000C27-I4T1G has an internal reset signal, RESET, that is used to reset the system when an overvoltage, undervoltage or POR condition is detected. In addition, it also has an EN signal that can be used to alert the system to other conditions, such as Thermal Shutdown or OVloop conditions. Both of these signals can be connected to external circuitry, such as interrupt controllers, to allow the system to take appropriate action.
