PMIC – Supervisors refer to devices that monitor, detect and protect various components of power management systems due to a variety of situations. Application Field
This product is mainly used for 16V DC switching power supply, 5V DC regulator voltage monitoring and protection, and provides 1A internal NMOSFET operation when input power is abnormal. It is widely used in all kinds of computer systems (desktop and laptop computers, server computers, etc.), communications (PBX digital switches, mobile base station controllers, etc.), aerospace and medical systems, digital home entertainment (DVD and Blu-ray players, digital TVs, etc.), industrial automation systems, office automation and security systems.
Working Principle
The S-1000N15-I4T1U has three pins required for the operation in an electronic device. They are VIN, VCC, and EN. The input power (VIN) is the main power supply for the IC. After the IC is connected to the power supply and the power is turned on, the EN pin is pulled low so that the IC can detect the voltage drops of the power supply. When the voltage of VIN drops below the preset value, the IC will start a timer. If the timer reaches the preset time, the IC will then output a high on its output pin, which is connected to the PWRON pin of the power supply. The power supply then shuts off, thus protecting the internal circuit and components of the device. The built-in power FET can then be used to provide a variety of protection functions, such as current limiting, over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, and power supply fault protection. In addition, the S-1000N15-I4T1U can also detect the operating voltage of 5V power supply and protect it when it is abnormally low, ensuring system stability and reliability.
