The S-1009C40I-M5T1U is an advanced supervisor device for peripheral embedded systems. A supervisor is an electronic device designed to protect sensitive electronic components such as memory chips, flash memory and other microcontroller devices from overvoltage, overcurrent and other catastrophic events. The S-1009C40I-M5T1U can be used to monitor the operation of MCUs and other related ICs, as well as providing signal conditioning and power sequencing to MCUs, in order to protect them against power cycling, abnormal current draws and sudden power spikes.

A typical application field of the S-1009C40I-M5T1U supervisor involves the use of embedded sensors and controllers, in which the conductor layer must be protected and the system must be able to detect and respond to electrical fault conditions. The device is particularly suitable for protecting charging systems, such as those of wearable devices, battery-operated equipment or other types of electrically powered products. The S-1009C40I-M5T1U supervisor is also suitable for use in other high reliability embedded systems, such as automotive, industrial, medical and telecommunications products.

The S-1009C40I-M5T1U can monitor up to two low voltage DC power rails and offers \'always-on\' protection for the respective embedded circuit or system. This device features both an internal voltage regulator and an integrated 1.8V supply for supplying VCC for the MCU; it is therefore possible to support always-on operation without having to resort to standby regulators. Additionally, the S-1009C40I-M5T1U can be used to monitor up to three input pins and to issue an interrupt signal on any one of them. This allows the system to detect faults in the power supply, other peripheral devices such as a modem, or in the processor itself. This device also supports a 10-step dynamic current scaling, programmed through an I2C interface.
