S-1132B23-U5T1G is a linear voltage regulator designed for applications that require high precision, low noise, and excellent thermal performance, with the added benefit of low RPM. It is an ideal choice for applications including microcontrollers, data conversions, audio systems, CCD and camera control, power amplifiers, and low-voltage motor control.The S-1132B23-U5T1G voltage regulator operates by controlling the current passing through an output resistor, adjusting the output current over a wide range of output voltages. It is based on a band-gap reference circuit, capable of accurate regulation over a wide range of temperatures and load currents. It operates in a two-stage topology capable of delivering regulated output voltage at various input and output voltages. The first stage is composed of an error amplifier, an internal oscillator, and a compensation network. The second stage consists of low-on resistance MOSFETs, a large external heat sink, and a simple set-up procedure. The differential input and output voltages are controlled by adjusting the internal oscillator frequency and/or by adjusting the MOSFET gate voltage. To assist in controlling the output voltage, there is a low-voltage supervisor circuit and a high-speed latch-up circuit. When the output voltage is above the threshold, the regulator will enter shut-down, disabling any output current. The output voltage is adjustable from 0 to +24 V with input voltages of 0.5 to 12 V. The device operates from 0°C to +85°C temperature range and can deliver up to 4A of output current. It is available in a small 8-pin TSOP package.In addition to its excellent thermal performance, the S-1132B23-U5T1G is highly efficient due to its low quiescent current (typical 5 mA), low output voltage noise, and fast transient response.
