The S-1313C20-A4T1U3 is a linear voltage regulator which falls under the Power Management IC (PMIC) family. It is a three-terminal low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator. It is specifically designed to supply 1.2V outputs at up to 500 mA with low dropout voltage and very good line and load regulation. Working Principle

The typical operation of the S-1313C20-A4T1U3 linear voltage regulator is illustrated in the following figure. The input voltage is applied to the VIN terminal and is regulated by a series pass element composed of an N-channel MOSFET (Q1) and an active current limit (R1). The power dissipated by the regulating element is kept minimal by monitoring the voltage across the MOSFET\'s body diode (D1). The power dissipated is maintained minimal by limiting the current through the MOSFET using a control loop. The regulated voltage of the S-1313C20-A4T1U3 linear voltage regulator is determined by the value of the external feedback network (R2/R3). A timing capacitor connected to the Pin6 is used to remove output voltage ripple.

The S-1313C20-A4T1U3 linear voltage regulator has an internal temperature monitor to shut down the output of the regulator in the event that the junction temperature exceeds an over temperature protection limit. The power switch off is triggered when the internal temperature reaches the thermal shutdown temperature which is typically 160°C.
