PMIC - Voltage Regulators - Linear
The S-812C20BMC-C4AT2G is a micro-power linear regulator manufactured by Sanken Electric. It is designed to provide cost-effective voltage regulation with low quiescent current, high accuracy, and fast turn-on time.
The device features a 0.5V to 18V adjustable output voltage range, an adjustable 0.5A to 2A output current and a low 10mV low dropout voltage over its entire output current range. The S-812C20BMC-C4AT2G provides two programmable operating modes, Low Dropout (LDO) mode and Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) mode, to meet different power requirements in various applications.
The output voltage range of the S-812C20BMC-C4AT2G is easily adjusted through a single external resistor, allowing the circuit to adapt to different supply voltages and to be optimized for improved accuracy and load transient response. The device is also equipped with an enable control pin and other features such as under-voltage lock-out (UVLO), reverse polarity protection (RPOC), and over-temperature protection (OTP).
Application Field And Working Principle
The S-812C20BMC-C4AT2G is well suited for supplying power to low quiescent current and low power applications such as small signal systems, computing systems and data communication applications. Due to its flexibility in mode selection, the S-812C20BMC-C4AT2G is able to accommodate a wide range of applications.
The device operation is based on a classic linear regulator topology which consists of a pass transistor, an error amplifier and a voltage reference circuit. The pass transistor is controlled by the combined action of the error amplifier and the voltage reference. The output voltage of the device is determined by the equation VOUT=1.2V+VREF.
When in LDO mode, the pass transistor is turned on and the output voltage is regulated by the error amplifier, resulting in a constant voltage supplied to the load. The pass transistor is turned off in PFM mode to reduce current consumption. The error amplifier remains active in this mode and will continue to monitor and adjust the output voltage.
The S-812C20BMC-C4AT2G is available in two packages, SOT-25 and DPAK. It is designed to provide reliable and cost effective voltage regulation for small signal low power applications.
