The S-8338ABCC-P8T1G is a type of DC DC switching controller from the PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) voltage regulator family. This device is designed to provide excellent performance in many power regulating applications. The device integrates both a 150mV voltage reference and a low-side gate driver in one package, which makes it perfect for low power applications where space savings is a priority. The integrated circuit offers excellent efficiency, wide operating temperature range, very low output voltage ripple and high-current output power.

The device operates in a Buck or Boost configuration depending on the input voltage. When operated in Buck mode, the output voltage is lower than the input voltage, and when operated in Boost mode, the output voltage is higher than the input voltage. It requires two external capacitors to operate: one for the input capacitance and one for the output capacitance.

The device uses a charge pump circuit to boost the gate voltage for improved switching performance. It also employs a frequency jittering technique to reduce EMI (electromagnetic interference). In addition, a low-noise soft-start circuit minimizes the inrush current during start-up.

The S-8338ABCC-P8T1G supports a wide input voltage range of 4V to 36V and provides a low RDS(on) MOSFET driver output which enables high current and power applications. It has a low jitter frequency adjustable from 150kHz to 1MHz, and it can provide up to 1.5A peak current sourcing capability. It also has an adjustable current limit and short-circuit protection, rated for continuous short-circuit protection.
