The S-8355K18MC-NADT2G series of Power Management IC (PMIC) is a state-of-the-art DC/DC switching controller that is highly integrated and includes specialized features for point-of-load (POL) applications. The controllers provide a high integration of features including: master/slave synchronization, low-ripple valley switching, multiple-step voltage scaling, power saving sleep modes, pulse-width modulation (PWM) control, on-board digital temperature monitoring, advanced fault detection, and flexible protection.In addition to the wide variety of functionality and features, the highly integrated S-8355K18MC-NADT2G series controllers reduce the cost and size of system design. The controllers incorporate a PWM controller, power MOSFET gate drivers, safety circuits, and a voltage regulator, all on a single die. This eliminates the need for multiple discrete components and simplifies the system power design and optimization.Applications of S-8355K18MC-NADT2G series PMICs arise in a wide variety of applications including Intel® Active core voltage regulator (VCORE), notebooks, ultrabooks, PCs, telecommunications, data storage, and similar equipment. The devices typically provide intermediate power conversion, such as step-down or step-up conversions, and typically manage power between 2V and 6V. These controllers are designed to provide power with very low distortion, no overshoot or undershoot, very small ripple, accurate regulation, and low EMI.The S-8355K18MC-NADT2G series controllers implement a synchronous rectification topology and use pulse-width modulation (PWM) to control both the input voltage and output voltage to ensure the best efficiency and stability over a wide range of operating conditions.
