Some of the typical applications include notebook adapter, adapter for peripheral devices, DCDC converter for camera modules, active OR gate converters, and PoE applications.Working PrincipleThe S-8357B60MCNJTT2G DCDC Switching Controller has a current-mode architecture for maximum load and line transient response. The on-time of the internal control loop is set by a current proportional to the sensed output voltage. The current sources avoid steady-state oscillations and also minimize the output voltage regulation errors. The COT control method is also employed to reduce the switching losses and noise and maximize efficiency.The device includes protection features like under-voltage lockout, over-voltage protection, and over-current protection. The UVLO threshold is adjustable with an external resistor. The OVP threshold is adjustable with both the resistor divider and the supply voltage sense pin. The OCP threshold is adjustable with an external resistor. The thermal protection is also included in the package.The S-8357B60MC-NJTT2G DCDC Switching Controller also provides an enable pin and a soft-start capability to reduce surge current during startup. The enable pin allows the user to shut down the device by using a logic high voltage. The soft start function can be configured by changing the capacitor connected to the soft start pin.In addition, the S-8357B60MC-NJTT2G DCDC Switching Controller provides a power good (PG) output to indicate the output voltage is within the specified tolerance. It also includes a reference output to connect an opto-coupler for system reliability and accuracy.
