The S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G is a DC-DC switching controller, suitable for control of wide-range off-line BUS converters and flyback converters. This device is capable of providing four-stage switching control, suitable for use in next-generation power applications. The S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G has an integrated power MOSFET, an integrated voltage monitoring circuit, an OC protection circuit, a thermal protection circuit and a current sensing circuit. In addition, the unit has an array of integrated digital and signal conditioning functions, allowing precise control of power conversion without the need for additional components. Its low standby power requirement and extended degree of flexibility makes it ideal for a wide range of power management applications.
The S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G provides functionality such as precise voltage regulation, pulse-by-pulse current limit, precise voltage/current slope control, over temperature/current protection and precise ON/OFF control of the output power. It is designed to minimize the number of components required to protect system reliability while providing high efficiency, long-term stability, and superior regulatory performance. The advanced features and low standby power requirements makes the S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G suitable for high-precision power management applications such as off-line and flyback power supplies, healthcare and medical equipment, energy storage systems, laser systems and precision instrumentation.
The S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G application field is mainly focused on next-generation power systems and embedded systems. The DC-DC switching controller provides three operating modes: Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) mode, Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) mode and Pulse-Rex modulation (PRM) mode. In PWM mode, the S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G drives the power MOSFET based on the output voltage error. In PFM mode, the system powers the MOSFET based on a predetermined frequency and duty cycle, as opposed to the output voltage error. In PRM mode, the switching operation of the system is adapted to the operating conditions and load patterns to achieve higher efficiency.
The S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G provides a wide input voltage of 2.5V to 5.5V and a circuit current of 1.5A allowing it to be used in large scale embedded microprocessor-controlled systems. Moreover, the small package size of 2mm x 2mm allows it to be integrated into compact systems. In addition, the switching converter also features an extra-wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and an excellent temperature stability over the entire operating temperature range.
The working principle of the S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G is based on the pulse-width modulation (PWM) scheme. The device uses an integrated power MOSFET, voltage and current sensing circuits, and a control circuit to provide precision voltage/current control. The voltage and current sensing circuits detect the feedback voltage or current, which is then compared with internally generated control voltage or current. If the control voltage or current is greater than the sensed value, a switching pulse is sent to the power MOSFET gate to enhance the load current. Conversely, if the control voltage or current is less than the sensed value, a switching pulse is sent to the power MOSFET gate to reduce load current. This process is repeated at a predetermined rate to ensure a stable output voltage/current for the DC-DC power converter.
The S-8520B28MC-ARNT2G is a highly efficient and powerful DC-DC switching controller, suitable for a wide range of power management applications. The device features advanced features, extended temperature range, and a wide range of operating modes, allowing precise voltage/current control. Furthermore, the unit has a low standby power requirement, making it ideal for mobile, embedded and next-generation power systems.
