Working Principle
The S-8521A28MC-AXNT2U DC-DC switching controller is a high efficiency switching regulator with a low quiescent current and excellent light load efficiency. The device provides a wide input voltage range from 2.2V to 5.5V and allows for output adjustment from 1.8V to 5.5V. The high integration level makes it possible to use a very small footprint, allowing for space and cost savings. The device offers very high switching frequency with switching up to 2MHz, resulting in higher efficiency over wide load range. The device also offers a dynamic on-time modulation for stability purposes. This feature provides low ripple at high load currents and offers better transient response due to its continuous 8-bit ADC.
The other features includes an internal soft start and under-voltage lockout (UVLO). The soft-start function minimizes the output surging in start-up and it can also reduce the over-shooting further while the device is being operated. The UVLO feature helps to protect the device in case of a low input voltage. Additionally, the device includes an output voltage adjust pin which makes it possible to adjust the output voltage without affecting the compensation loop or the current limit setting.
