S25FL116K0XMFIQ10, widely known as S25FL116K, is a 3V NOR Flash memory device designed for use in a variety of applications. This Flash memory is made up of two components: a controller and a NOR Flash memory, both of which are controlled by the controller. This Flash memory can be used for data storage in storage devices such as flash cards, portable music players, and cell phones.

The S25FL116K is mainly used in resource constrained embedded applications such as internet of things (IoT) devices, as well as automotive and industrial automation applications. This device also features a high performance X-Perience Flash interface which allows for faster data transfer speed and supports a broad range of instructions. Additionally, this device has an integrated voltage read feature which allows it to accurately read the voltage level of a power source.

The S25FL116K is optimized for reading and writing of multiple types of data including parameter configurations/settings, code code, video/audio files, and image data. Working Principle

S25FL116K consists of two components: a controller and a NOR Flash memory. The controller resolves the commands from the host data bus and recognizes the commands that the host generates. Depending on the command, the controller will forward the information to the NOR Flash memory, whether to write/read data or to erase it. The NOR Flash memory is then divided into blocks, where each block is further divided into sectors.

The read/write operation starts with the host sending a request to the controller. If its an read operation, the controller will then read the data from the NOR Flash memory and send it back to the host. If its a write operation, the controller will erase the data from the Flash memory first, then program the new data into the NOR Flash memory. The program and erase operations are carried out block-by-block.

The S25FL116K can be used to store data in a variety of formats, such as binary, 8-bit word, or 32-bit word. It has built-in error correction code (ECC) to reduce error rate, and a low power standby mode that can be enabled by software or hardware. The device also has a self-refreshing feature to refresh data stored in the NOR Flash memory without requiring external refreshing signals. Additionally, the device features a write protection feature to protect data stored in the memory against unexpected overwrites.
