This process allows the flow of current to continue on its path through the two diodes.

When the waveform flips after 180 degrees, the two diodes now switch roles. The diode connected to the negative terminal is now reverse-biased and does not conduct, while the diode connected to the positive terminal is now forward-biased and allows current to flow. The action is similar to single diode operation, but permits current to flow in both directions due to the two diodes.
