Snap action, limit switches, also referred to as snap switches, are limits of switches. They are normally open or normally closed switches whose contact position is changed by the action of a spring-loaded plunger. Although the plunger can be depressed manually or by external forces, the spring is what ultimately causes the switch to return to its original state. The SCB-ER30 is one example of this switch family.
The SCB-ER30’s contact configuration is snap-action Normally-Open/Normally-Closed with integrated bistable switch. Its contact material is silver alloy and the electrical rating is 12A for AC250V/DC28V. It is designed to be used in a variety of applications, such as automotive and in industrial control systems, due to its robust design, small size and high functionality. The SCB-ER30 features a built-in dielectric strength of 2500Vrms, a mechanical life of more than 5 million operations and an operating temperature range of -25°C to 70°C.
The operating principle of the SCB-ER30 involves a compression spring force, which is used to hold the two contacts together in the Normally-Closed position. When pressure is applied to the button, the contacts separate. When the pressure is released, the spring force brings the button to its original position and the contacts are restored to their original state. This action opens or closes the switch contacts depending on their initial state.
The most striking feature of the SCB-ER30 is that the contacts can be opened and closed without the use of any external power source. This feature comes in handy when external power sources are not available, such as in mobile applications. Moreover, the SCB-ER30 is designed for low current, low voltage applications and is therefore ideal for sensitive electronic circuits as it is able to switch small currents without causing any damage.
Other features of the SCB-ER30 include a low contact resistance of 5 milliohms, making it suitable for low-power applications, an electrical durability of up to 5000 operations, and an operational life of up to one million operations. Additionally, the contact system is extremely reliable and repeatable, which means the switch can provide consistent performance, even when subjected to shocks and vibrations.
The SCB-ER30 is versatile, robust and easy to install, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. It can be used in automotive and industrial control systems such as door/window safety systems, autonomous machines, as well as in medical and security systems. Its ability to switch small currents without causing any damage makes it suitable for applications such as electronic toys, optical scanners and industrial counter systems.
In summary, the SCB-ER30 is a snap action, limit switch which is typically used for low current and low voltage applications. It is a Normally-Open/Normally-Closed contact switch with a built-in dielectric strength of 2500Vrms and an operating temperature range of -25°C to 70°C. Its contact system is reliable and repeatable, and is suitable for a variety of applications including automotive and industrial control systems.
