Inductors are electrical components made of coils of wire which create a magnetic field when current moves through them. Inductors typically store energy in the form of a magnetic field as long as current flows through them. Fixed inductors, as the name implies, are inductors with a fixed capacitance or inductance rating which cannot be changed. The SCC5D23-220 is an example of a fixed inductor, specifically a single-layer, non-radial, air-core type.

The SCC5D23-220 is specifically designed for applications which require high frequency and power inductors components. It has a high saturation current rating and a small core size. These features make it well suited power line noise suppression applications, voltage regulator and converter circuits, and power supply circuits.

The construction of the SCC5D23-220 is made of copper wire wound around a ferrite core. The ferrite core has an area of 4.7 x 4.7mm. This magnetic field then generates a voltage across the coil which opposes the applied voltage. This opposes the change in the current flow, creating a constant current rather than the rapidly oscillating AC current of the full wave rectified voltage.

The SCC5D23-220 is an ideal component for applications which require high frequency and power inductors. It has a high saturation current rating, a small core size, and a high-frequency, low-loss construction, making it well suited for power line noise suppression, voltage regulator and converter circuits, and power supply circuits.
