When an alternating current is applied to an inductor, a changing magnetic field is generated in its core. This induces a current flowing in the opposite direction, which opposes the current flowing through the inductor, resulting in a drop in voltage known as inductive reactance. The amount of inductive reactance increases with an increase in frequency. This allows the SCPH73B-101 inductor to accurately filter signals of a particular frequency, by rejecting or attenuating those that exceed the cutoff frequency. This makes it highly suitable for applications such as radio frequency receivers, frequency converters and power supplies.

The SCPH73B-101 inductor is available in two standard sizes: a 6.0mm x 5.2mm size and an 8.0mm x 7.2mm size in a shielded casing.
