SD395EVK/NOPB Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits: Application Field and Working Principle

The SD395EVK/NOPB (hereafter referred to as the SD395) is a part of Texas Instrument\'s Smarter Systems portfolio of Evaluation and Demonstration boards and kits. It provides a platform for designers to evaluate the use of a mixed-signal system on a chip (SoC) device. The SD395 EVs is an all-in-one development system for the TMS320F28379D microcontroller. The SD395 EVM is an extremely versatile system. It is specifically designed to assess the capabilities of the TMS320F28379D SoC device, which has been designed to be configurable as either a digital or analog controller with integrated signal chains. It features an integrated lead-frame package, as well as a dedicated analog-floating point block with a configurable control loop and a 16-bit on-chip ADC. The TMS320F28379D is also capable of both measuring and controlling analog and digital signals.The evaluation board also includes an integrated Ethernet-based switch (named XILA-E Network System) for networking applications. The XILA-E based on TI\'s integrated device architecture enables users to directly implement their own Ethernet networking applications. The switch connects the evaluation system to an external network, where data and programs can be downloaded to the system for further device evaluation. This provides designers with the capability to remotely monitor and control multiple devices, allowing for more efficient evaluation and test procedures. The SD395 EVM includes an analog output header which is used to drive a wide variety of different test peripherals. The board also includes an integrated PGA (programmable gain amplifier) which can be used to measure the frequency, phase and amplitude of any AC signal. It also features a premium LED array for displaying various system status signals. The evaluation board\'s key feature is its ability to mezzanine the F28379D to an F2802x (C2000) target device. This enables users to evaluate the dynamic performance of C2000 peripherals such as the ClSignal, ClPulse, and Pacer timers as well as the ADC, DAC (digital-to-analog converter) and FPU (floating-point unit) peripherals. Users can easily evaluate the system by simply connecting a PGA to the mezzanine header or by directly measuring the output of one of the device\'s Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs). The SD395 EVK is a versatile system and can be used for many applications. It can be used for high-performance audio and/or video recording, or to interface with different analog or digital systems. Its Ethernet switch also enables the SD395 EVK to be part of a distributed control system. The integrated FPU makes the SD395 EVK an ideal platform for digital signal processing and also for use in embedded system development.In conclusion, the SD395 EVK/NOPB is an all-in-one development system for the TMS320F28379D microcontroller, providing designers with a platform to evaluate the device\'s capabilities.
