The photointerrupter has an optical output port for detecting the interruption of a beam of light and an electric output port for providing a signal corresponding to the detected interruption. Among these types of photointerrupters, the Slot Type with Logic Output is a specialized type, with SF4-AH56-N being a specific example. The SF4-AH56-N is an active-type slot type photointerrupter with logic 1 output, meaning it output an inhibit signal when an interruption of the light is detected. Its application field is mainly in controlling the on and off states of devices such as motors, pumps, home appliances, and electronics. Specifically, it is used to detect objects as they pass in between the sender and receiver, provide a signal of the passage, stop an operation of a motor in the case of an emergency or a fault, and secure a situation for automatic controlling of devices.
