DC DC Converters have been employed by many industries for accepting input power of different voltage levels and outputting voltage in different levels. One such converter is the SFCS302415B, a low voltage-drop 4-terminal DC DC converter module that operates at low input voltage to deliver regulated output voltage.The SFCS302415B’s application field includes all electronic applications requiring regulated power. It is suitable for low-power systems with a voltage requirement up to 12V and current capability to 24A. This DC DC converter module is suitable for operating between two fixed input voltage ranges: one from 4.75V to 6V and the other from 10.125V to 14.4V. These levels allow it to be used as a bridge between pairs of batteries, between multiple power supplies and dependent power sources. It can also be applied in connection with very low voltage circuits, which is commonly done in the medical and automotive fields.The SFCS302415B’s working principle is based on the use of two internal power Mosfets connected in parallel and configured in a buck-boost mode. As a result, both input and output voltages can be regulated by adjusting the duty cycle and the gate voltage of each internal power Mosfet. When the gate voltage of one of the Mosfets is pulled to a negative potential, its drain voltage is reduced and the opposite Mosfet’s gate voltage is pulled to a positive potential. This adjusts the output voltage of the module and allows it to be fine-tuned for achieving the desired output voltage.The SFCS302415B’s features also include three external sense lines which are used for adjusting the module’s output voltage. The feedback signal supplied to the regulator is applied to the sense lines so that the module can more accurately adjust the output voltage. Connecting two differential sense lines enables the SFCS302415B to provide excellent regulation accuracy with an input voltage range up to 14.4V. Additionally, the module has an extended temperature range of -50°C to +65°C making it versatile in various applications.The SFCS302415B DC DC converter module also provides current limiting, short circuit protection, an over-temperature shutdown feature and an inrush current limiting circuit. All these features increase the module’s reliability and reduce downtime since they help prevent over-voltage and over-current conditions that occur with many unregulated DC to DC converters. In conclusion, the SFCS302415B is an ideal DC to DC converter module for many applications due to its wide input voltage range, low ripple and noise, extended temperature range and current limiting and protection features.
