Film Capacitors

A film capacitor is an electronic device made up of two or more metal plates placed in an alternating pattern, with layers of thin film material separating the metal plates. Film capacitors are available with varying dielectric constant (K) values and ranges, and use different film materials to achieve the desire capacitance value or voltage rating. In terms of a specific capacitance value, the higher the K, the lower the capacitance. Film capacitors offer superior performance characteristics in comparison to a conventional capacitor because they are designed to prevent interference caused by thermal or mechanical deformation, resulting in better temperature stability and a longer life-time when operating in extreme environments.

SFT37T75K391B-F application field and working principle

The SFT37T75K391B-F is a high-performance polypropylene film capacitor intended for use as a power filter capacitor in a wide range of applications. It has an efficient temperature coefficient of less than ± 0.30%/°C, a usable temperature range from -55℃ to +125℃, and is designed for bipolar operation. The SFT37T75K391B-F has an insulation resistance of at least 5000MΩ・μF with negligible current leakage even at room temperature. In addition, the capacitor is self-healing and resistant to external vibrations.

In terms of principle of operation, the capacitor will absorb the positive half cycle of the AC sine wave passing through it and then, in the next positive-half cycle, this charge releases from the capacitor. This results in a modified wave form having lower amplitude at the input, and this dissipates the excess energy, sometimes referred as noise, that travels on the AC line as an effect of load. This improved wave form provides a steady voltage supply to the output.

The SFT37T75K391B-F is designed to be used in power filtration circuits for a variety of applications such as vacuums, air conditioners, pumps, fans, washing machines, industrial automation equipment, motor-driven lamps, water heaters, and household appliances, among other applications.
