Working Principles of SI-3025LSA

SI-3025LSA integrated circuits employ a two-level voltage regulation principle that works differently based on the level of load current. Under light load current (ILOAD < IADJ), the regulator operates non-disruptively, controlling the output voltage with a negative regulation loop, compared to conventional positive regulation. Under extreme load current (ILOAD > IADJ), the SI-3025LSA integrated circuits operate by adapting their output voltage drop to additional current demands, thus ensuring minimum output voltage change from unloaded to full-load conditions.The structure of the SI-3025LSA devices is an on-chip NPN bipolar power transistor, a comparator and an integrated current limit architecture. The control of the output voltage is done by a pair of resistors. One resistor (RSET) is in series with a zener diode (VSET), which sets the output voltage reference, and the other resistor (RFB) is connected between the output of the integrated circuit and the inverting input of the comparator.The voltage reference and the RFB resistor form a negative feedback loop, allowing the device to react to changes in the output voltage. If the current in the device increases beyond a certain threshold, the output voltage fluctuations are limited due to the limited voltage drop across the device. If the current increases further, the voltage regulator will reduce its output voltage to prevent changes in the output.
