The SI2400-BS is an interface device which consists of an analog modem, ISDN controller and higher layer protocols. It uses a data pump, analog interface and DS0/DS1 time-division multiplexer to interface between an IP, PSTN, WAN or other network and ISDN network. Working Principle

The SI2400-BS uses the AAL5 protocol with 64kB data frames. The basic structure of the SI2400-BS consists of an analog front-end, a digital back-end and a time-division multiplexer. The analog front-end consists of an analog modem and an analog port. The analog modem is used to receive digital data from the IP network and transform it into an analog signal for transmission over the analog port. The digital back-end consists of an ISDN controller, which is used to convert the analog signal into a digital signal for transmission over the ISDN network. The time-division multiplexer is used to multiplex multiple data frames into a single frame for transmission over the ISDN network.

The SI2400-BS operates using a series of processes including reception, modulation and demodulation, encoding and decoding, packeting and framing. The analog port accepts analog signals which are received by the analog modem and modulated onto an ISDN-compatible bitstream. The ISDN controller processes the received bitstream to convert the data into packets. Next, the packets are encoded according to the AAL5 protocol and framed into 64kB data frames. The data frames are then multiplexed together and transmitted over the ISDN network.
