The SI4704-B20-GM is a high performance RF receiver designed for consumer applications. It is a low-cost, single-chip integrated radio receiver providing full coverage from 88 MHz to 108 MHz AM/FM broadcast bands. This receiver is designed to simplify the implementation of RF signal reception in consumer electronics applications. The SI4704-B20-GM provides excellent short and long-term frequency stability, low current consumption and a wide variety of features including adjustable sensitivity, AFC, stereo decoding, RDS processing, and multiple output formats.
This RF receiver is ideal for use in many consumer electronics, such as desktop speakers, car audio, portable players, and television receivers. It is also suitable for remote control applications, medical monitoring devices, radio and television broadcasting, and any other consumer device which requires a reliable receiver for broadcast or surveillance signals.
The SI4704-B20-GM employs a unique receiver topology to achieve high RF performance and excellent low-noise characteristics. The receiver front end consists of low noise amplifier, frequency band pass filter, image rejection mixer, IF filter and gain control components. The receiver also contains a stereo decoder, a digital audio processor, RDS and audio postprocessing modules.
The SI4704-B20-GM receiver operates on 3V to 5.5V power supply and consumes a low current of 8.5mA in receive mode. Its high sensitivity ensures the reception of weak signals in a noisy environment. It supports both mono and stereo data formats, and provides various user-configurable parameters such as AFC pull-in and hold ranges, IF filter bandwidth selection, stereo/mono non-standard mode selection, etc.
The SI4704-B20-GM receiver also supports the industry-standard I2C and Serial Audio Interfaces. The user can easily control and monitor it by accessing its internal registers through the I2C bus. It offers an analog output for headphone connection and a low-power digital audio output for up to 16-bit resolution with 48 kHz sampling rate. The user can select either Stereo or Left/Right output format. The device also provides an AF output for FM demodulation.
