The SI51218-A07909-GM clock chip provides a high degree of customization, flexibility and scalability.- High-Frequency Output: generates outputs from 80MHz to 800MHz in 0.25 or 0.5 steps, making it ideal for a large variety of applications

Working Principle
The SI51218-A07909-GM frequency synthesizer, like any other clock chip, is built on a set of different components and sub-tasks which help the chip to generate and adjust its signal output.VCO & Divider
The main component of any clock chip is the Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO). This oscillator is in charge of generating the output signal when given a voltage input. Inside the VCO there is a number of frequency dividers in charge of dividing the harmonics of the signal generated by the oscillator. This is achieved by using digital frequency divider blocks according to the given input voltage.Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL)
The PLL is the most accountable component of the chip as the functionality of the entire device depends on it. It\'s composed by digital control logic, a phase detector (PD) and a charge pump (CP). The input of the PD is measured by a reference signal, which, in the case of the SI51218-A07909-GM, comes from the Host/DAC. The PD compares the phases of the reference signal to the frequency output from the VCO and gives an output signal to the charge pump. Finally, the charge pump takes the output and provides it to the VCO voltage control input.Thanks to this loop, the chip is able to lock onto the reference signal and generate a signal whose output is synced or in harmony with the other signals from the source.Integrated Loop Filter (LPF)
The integrated Loop Filter consists of a 7-bit register that is programmed through SPI port. This filter serves to set the loop bandwidth autonomously to the exact value needed to achieve better timing jitter in both multiplexing and stand-alone applications.Output Enable
The SI51218-A07909-GM contains a 3-bit register that is set through pins. This register is in charge of enabling/disabling each output, giving the user the flexibility of using the chip in different sets up and spaces while consuming less power.Conclusion
