SI53119-A01AGM is an industrial grade clock source which belongs to clock/timing - application specific. It provides one flexible, differential output that is controllable. Application Field
The SI53119-A01AGM Clock/Timing IC is designed to meet the stringent requirements of the industrial, medical and military markets. These include the transmission of multiple-frequency data and the generation of clocking signals with low phase noise. It can be used in demanding clock applications that require low jitter, very low phase noise and excellent isolation, including industrial servers and storage, medical instruments, such as imaging systems and scanners, and specialized military or aerospace applications.
It also has a wide variety of applications, such as providing an alternative clock source for embedded applications where the main clock is a crystal oscillator, synchronizing clock and data signals, driving high-speed interfacing protocols, and providing precision timing for synchronization of multiple receivers.
Working Principle
SI53119-A01AGM utilizes a quick-lock PLL, which allows it to lock onto and maintain in-phase with an externally supplied reference clock, and chain up to three adjacent outputs. It has powerful features, such as adjustable/programmable output voltage and frequency, as well as pin-selectable divide-by-N options for divide ratios up to 32. Its Fractional-N operation further reduces any frequency offset between the output clock and the reference clock, provided that both clocks have the same frequency.
The device has two reference clock inputs, CLKI1 and CLKI2, which can be used independently, or combined together in a dual-loop architecture. The dual-loop architecture is used when the required output frequency is sensitive to low jitter, such as when driving medical instrumentation or other frequency-sensitive systems. CLKI2 is used to feed CLKOUT2, while CLKOUT1 is fed from a divide-by-N of CLKOUT2.
SI53119-A01AGM also features multiple power-down modes, allowing the device to conserve power when it is not in use. It includes a sleep mode, which reduces current consumption by turning off all clocks output, as well as an optional power-down mode, which allows the device to retain its programming, i.e. frequency, when power is removed and then reapplied.
