The SI5317C-C-GM is a clock generator and FlexEQ™ PLL technology from Silicon Labs. It is a high-precision, low-power, and versatile oscillator device that integrates a flexible frequency synthesizer, discrete oscillator, and prescaler, to provide an all-in-one solution for system clock generation.The device provides a wide range of output frequencies by programming an internal synthesizer, allowing designers to reduce external components and simplify system-level solutions. The SI5317C-C-GM is available in 3.2mm x 3.2mm and 5mm x 5mm packages and offers a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C.

Working Principle

The SI5317C-C-GM is based on Silicon Labs’ patented FlexEQ PLL technology and features a precision low jitter on-chip oscillator, a discrete oscillator, and a prescaler.The device is designed to synthesize a wide range of output frequencies from a single reference clock input, eliminating the need for external components, thus reducing system cost and complexity. The internal configuration register is programmed using the I2C interface, allowing a wide range of frequency options from the same device.The device utilizes the built-in oscillator to create high-integrity timing signals derived from a single low-jitter reference clock. It also incorporates a discrete oscillator for applications that require robustness and immunity to radiation.The built-in prescaler allows the output frequency to be divided by two or four times so that the phase-locked loop can speed up the phase acquisition time.The SI5317C-C-GM also features programmable spread-spectrum output on all outputs to reduce radiated EMI and enables systems to meet stringent EMC regulations.The SI5317C-C-GM utilizes advanced Analog and Mixed-Signal (AMS) integration technology, offering a stable and accurate clock source with low power consumption, high accuracy, and high-bandwidth jitter performance. This enables the device to be used in a wide range of applications which require high timing accuracy and stability. It is suitable for industrial, automotive, and avionics applications.
