The SI5335A-B07834-GM is a performance-enhancing clock generator, phase-locked loop (PLL) and frequency synthesizer designed to help customers reduce cost, simplify board design and speed time to market. The device integrates two independent, low-skew, high-frequency MultiSynth fractional-N frequency synthesizers and an advanced, LVCMOS-compatible PLL. Utilizing the combination of MultiSynth fractional-N technology, an advanced phase-locked loop (PLL) and an optimized layout design, the SI5335A-B07834-GM provides low jitter and extremely low-noise output signals from a single 10-pin, 2 mm x 2 mm chip-scale package. This enables customers to easily develop cost-effective, sophisticated clock sources for a wide variety of applications.The SI5335A-B07834-GM is ideal for applications requiring multiple output frequencies and low-power, low-jitter source clocks such as communications, optical, consumer electronics, instrumentation, medical, and aerospace. The flexible output frequencies — range between 8MHz and 875MHz — and the combination of MultiSynth fractional-N frequency synthesis and a low jitter PLL make this device well suited for modern system designs.The SI5335A-B07834-GM is designed to combine fast frequency hopping, low power consumption and excellent jitter performance in various clock-generator applications. The device has two independent multi-synth PLLs with frequency range from 8 to 875MHz and a wide range of frequency ratios of: 1:1, N:1, 1:N and N:M. Its high-performance fractional-N synthesizers deliver excellent jitter performance figures of 44ps RMS and .12ps peak-to-peak. The PLLs are designed to capture input reference frequencies up to 200MHz while maintaining a low power consumption of 2.2mW. Furthermore, the SI5335A-B07834-GM is well-equipped with an onboard power-on reset (POR) circuit assigns user-selectable outputs upon device initialization and is also a very low jitter solution for ‘clocking-out’ digital signals. It includes 0.3V – 3.3V logic levels, enables I2C/SMBus/SPI compatible digital interface, and also features an adjustable output voltage from 0.45V to 3.3V.The SI5335A-B07834-GM derives its signal from an external reference clock. The user configures the output signals for the PLL and MultiSynth by programming the on-board register. The device can be programmed through an I2C interface or an on-board potentiometer. The output signals are synchronized to the same reference source with a fixed offset, so no neutral time-zone adjustment is required between them.The MultiSynth fractional-N synthesizers inside the device enable high-resolution output frequencies with excellent phase noise and jitter performance. Each MultiSynth consists of a programmable modulus and phase detector and a programmable, integer-based divider. The PLL consists of a phase/frequency detector, a programmable low-pass filter, and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The device has a fixed reference input frequency, from which it provides a wide range of transmit and receive frequencies.Overall, the SI5335A-B07834-GM is a powerful, low-noise and low-power clock generator, phase-locked loop (PLL) and frequency synthesizer best suited for applications requiring multiple output frequencies and extreme low jitter source clocks.
