The SI5338A-B05001-GM provides jitter attenuation and clock synchronization for digital systems through a combination of prescaling and frequency synthesis techniques. The user can select up to six low-EMI or jitter-attenuated outputs from an internal synthesizer or external clock reference. The on-chip programmable oscillator supports various crystal or oscillator frequencies for an accurate device setup.The device utilizes an ambient temperature compensated PLL with a charge pump output stage to allow for rapid clock synchronization to a new frequency. The device can lock onto the select clock reference within milliseconds, allowing for quick changing of the clock frequency without detrimentally affecting system performance. The integral Digital Control Loop (DCL), frequency filter block, and phased-locked loop filter block provide noise dampening, jitter attenuation and control loop stability.The programmable gains and bandwidths in the control loop and filter block allow users to select the respond performance to suit the application requirements. The digitally programmable VCO, regulator and output stages allow the user to tune the VCO frequency and Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) output levels, adjust programming via an on-chip 3-wire SMBus serial interface.
