The SI5338E-A-GM is a low-skew differential output 25 MHz to1150 MHz Synthesizer IC that has an integrated 10-output differential fan-out. It provides an ideal solution for frequency-hungry clock tree networks, applications that need a host of low-skew signals at multiple frequencies, and clock fan-out and buffer applications. This IC brings higher levels of integration, performance, and simplified programming to a vast array of end applications. The SI5338E-A-GM is part of SiTime\'s low-skew, low-jitter, wide-jitter-tolerant family of Clock Fanout ICs. The various features, such as programmable differential output, low-jitter, low-skew, wide-jitter-tolerant, and integrated differential fan-out make the SI5338E-A-GM ideal for data acquisition and communications applications.

The SI5338E-A-GM supports 25 MHz to 1150 MHz of frequency output, while managing jitter and noise to very low levels with a programmable multiphase modulator architecture. This IC is powered by a highly integrated Digital Frequency Synthesizer (DFS) that can be programmed and configured on-board by a Serial Communications Protocol (SPI) and other 3-wire or 6-wire control interfaces. The SI5338E-A-GM can achieve the low-skew with low-jitter performance levels in a wide variety of clock networks and applications. This is mainly due to the highly advanced pulse-width modulator and digital frequency multiplication architectures, which enable the SI5338E-A-GM to produce low-jitter outputs (at low frequencies) without the use of an external voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), simplifying system designs.

The SI5338E-A-GM can be programmed to use either a LVCMOS or LVDS differential clock output using input signals from a low-cost single-ended crystal clock source. Additionally, it can generate multiple clock outputs that can be clocked individually or locked to provide a tight synchronization between multiple outputs. The integrations of these modulating and synthesizing functions, as well as an integrated differential output fan-out, provides the necessary low-skew and low-jitter levels that are typical in multiple communications and computing applications. The SI5338E-A-GM is delivered in a 7mm x 7mm, 40-pin QFN package and is capable of fanning out up to 10 low-skew, low-jitter differential outputs.

The SI5338E-A-GM is ideally suited for a variety of communication, computing, and data acquisition applications. Its various features make it especially attractive for use in radio frequency (RF) and near-field communications, as well as data acquisition, industrial control, and clock fan-out and buffering. Its flexible output architecture can be programmed to output either LVCMOS or LVDS-based clocks, with multiple frequencies and/or multiple phase-shifted copies of a single frequency, to provide the required flexibility for designers.

The SI5338E-A-GM also provides advanced performance levels in terms of jitter, skew, and phase noise. Due to its advanced modulator and synthesizer architecture, the SI5338E-A-GM can generate very low-jitter frequencies down to 25 MHz without the use of an external VCO, enabling it to produce the much desired low-jitter performance. Additionally, its integrated fan-out buffer architecture helps keep the jitter and skew at their lowest, making it a very attractive solution for many applications. As most applications operate over networks, a high level of tolerance to jitter is mandatory. Since the SI5338E-A-GM has wide-jitter tolerance, it is ideal for such applications.
