The SI5342A-D-GMR is an integrated timing solution from Silicon Laboratories, Inc. It is a high-precision, integrated clock generator that combines a low-jitter oscillator, frequency synthesizer and PLL circuitry in a single chip. The SI5342A-D-GMR provides up to four outputs designed for clock and system synchronization for a variety of applications. Working Principle

The SI5342A-D-GMR consists of an oscillator, frequency synthesizer and PLL circuitry, all integrated on a single chip. The oscillator is a high-precision low-jitter oscillator that provides a fundamental reference frequency output within ±0.2 ppm accuracy. The frequency synthesizer uses a proprietary digital frequency synthesis technique which enables the output frequency to be adjustable to ±30 ppm accuracy. The PLL circuitry can be used to multiply or divide the reference frequency and provide a wide range of output frequencies with very low jitter (less than 1 ps RMS).

The SI5342A-D-GMR also features a dual-loop phase-locked loop (DLL PLL) circuitry which provides an additional phase-lock loop loop to further reduce jitter. This DLL PLL can lock to an external reference clock input or an internal reference. The SI5342A-D-GMR is designed to provide improved system timing accuracy and performance in a wide range of applications, and can operate over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
