SI8503-C-IM is a type of current transducers designed and manufactured by Silicon Labs, the largest fabless semiconductor company in the world. It is a current transducer that provides galvanically isolated analog output of the instantaneous AC or DC currents for single- or three- phase systems. It is available in several models that are optimized for different current applications.

This current transducer utilizes Silicon Labs’ patented Si8503-C-IM integrated current sensing solution, which is an isolated, galvanic current monitoring system. It is designed to provide accurate, easy-to-install current transducer solutions for single and three-phase AC systems. The transducer can measure AC and DC current up to 10 kA and 15 kA respectively, and provide analog output of the instantaneous current.

This technology features a built-in signal-conditioning circuit which requires a much smaller footprint than traditional current transformers do. It operates from 5.5 to 25 V DC and features dual-range operation (5th and 25th highest Harmonics) in order to provide highly reliable current measurement results.

The SI8503-C-IM application field includes such applications as motor drive systems, motor control systems, inverter systems, solar panels, electrical Q-Box, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, switchgear, power distribution systems, high voltage systems, metering systems and metering products, and low-voltage supplies.

The SI8503-C-IM operating principle, utilizes voltage isolation to measure electrical current and provide an analog output. It utilizes Silicon Labs’ patented Si8503 integrated current sensing solution, which is a high accuracy, low-noise, galvanically isolated current sensor. It is based on its patented asymmetrical magneto-elastic hall effect technology, which utilizes high-resolution field sensors to detect and measure current.

The SI8503-C-IM is designed to provide an accurate and reliable analog output for applications which require a low voltage and low current to operate. It has a very low power consumption and is ideal for use in harsh environments and where long cable lengths are required. In addition, since it is a non-intrusive system, it can be easily installed in existing system without the need to modify existing wiring or cabling.

The SI8503-C-IM current transducer is the ideal choice for applications requiring fast, accurate, and reliable current measurement. Its built-in signal conditioning also makes it very easy to install and eliminates the need for a larger traditional current transformer.
