Introduction

The SI85XX20AQFN-KIT is an evaluation board specially designed for the group of Silicon Labs\' high-performance digital MEMS microphones. Its design is especially suitable for automation and portable audio applications that require a low-cost discrete microphone array solution. The evaluation board offers an easy-to-use interface to quickly configure, test and debug performance of components in various projects.

Application Field

The SI85XX20AQFN-KIT evaluation board includes two types of components: a microphone and a processing core. Working Principle

The SI85XX20AQFN-KIT uses Silicon Labs’ high-performance digital MEMS microphone family, SI85XX20. It is a shrink-on-demand microphone array that is powered by a low-noise, CMOS-based logic and integrates a programmable gain amplifier, an offset cancellation loop and an automatic mute circuit. This evaluation board works on the principle of capture and analog-to-digital conversion of audio signals. When microphones capture acoustic energy in the environment, the audio signals received are further amplified by the programmable gain amplifier which then goes through the offset cancellation loop to reduce the out-of-band noise. The digital audio signals are finally processed for further analysis in real-time.The evaluation board is designed with the ability to enable connection to any of the I2S/PCM bus masters. This allows for compatibility with a variety of audio back-end components that can easily be connected to the microphone array for real-time audio analysis and processing.
