Digital Isolators are essential components used in distributed industrial systems that allows two circuits to communicate bi-directionally while completely isolating them electrically. The SI8602AC-B-IS is one such component, providing a line of communication through a digital isolator.

The SI8602AC-B-IS digital isolator offers high transient immunity (up to 25kV/μs) and wide digital and analog input voltage range (1.8V to 6V). It provides an isolated path for serial communication while protecting both sides from transients. The isolation voltage for this product is 8kV with a power supply voltage of 19 to 32V. The transmitter and receiver are isolated from one another preventing transients from affecting data transmission. Any induced transients are rejected and the full digital data is passed through. Furthermore, faults are detected internally with a feedback circuit at the chip level.

The working principle of the SI8602AC-B-IS is based on silicon chip isolator technology. The device separates electric signals into electrically isolated paths while allowing digital communication over an isolated path. Data is transferred mono-directionally to the receiver, using the Transmitter Enable (TxE) signal. The TxE signal is used to generate the differential signal on the transmitter side of the digital isolator. At the receiver side, the differential signal from the transmitter is detected, detected and converted back to the original data.

The SI8602AC-B-IS uses an Advanced Linear Circuit Technology (ALCT) to achieve low power consumption and high performance. This technology eliminates static and dynamic errors, making it an ideal choice for critical applications. It also offers an integrated differential signal input circuit to reduce external components.
