A DC-DC converter is responsible for converting the voltage levels, regulating the power levels, and providing current levels to a load.

SIS07VD Application & Working Principle

The SIS07VD is a switching-mode DC-DC converter, designed to convert a DC input voltage from 4.5V to 28V to a regulated DC output voltage from 0.6V to 25V and 2A maximum output current with ±1.5% line regulation and ±1% load regulation. It is an isolated converter, which means it can provide isolation between output and input, allowing for improved safety, reliability, and protection.

The SIS07VD consists of a power switching MOSFET and a primary side controller, a transformer, and an integrated control circuit that is responsible for providing the necessary power to the switching MOSFET. The circuitry inside the SIS07VD includes a feedback error amplifier, a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, a soft-start circuit, an over-current detection circuit, and a low voltage detection circuit.

When the input voltage is more than the output voltage, the SIS07VD functions as a buck DC-DC converter. When the input voltage is less than the output voltage, the SIS07VD performs as a boost DC-DC converter. In both buck and boost mode, the SIS07VD switches from a low state to a high state with a certain duty cycle to produce a pulsed signal that is amplified by the transformer and then rectified and filtered to produce a regulated voltage output.

The SIS07VD has a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V, a wide output voltage range of 0.6V to 25V, and excellent load and line regulation. Additionally, it features a soft-start circuit that can reduce the inrush current and output voltage transients and an over-current detection circuit that can protect the SIS07VD from over-load or short-circuits. It can also operate over a wide temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.

Due to its excellent performance, high efficiency, wide input and output voltage range, and a wide operating temperature range, the SIS07VD is suitable for applications such as industrial automation and control equipment, DC motors,Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), lighting, automotive systems, power units, security monitoring systems, and other general purpose power supply applications.
